"VITA EXCELLENCE AWARD"

The following conditions apply for participation in and submission for the VITA Excellence Award 2025 from VITA Zahnfabrik GmbH & Co. KG.

VITA EXCELLENCE AWARD

The VITA EXCELLENCE AWARD 2025 focuses on patient case documents submitted by participants that involve the leucite-reinforced, glass ceramic veneering ceramic VITA LUMEX^® AC.

2. Content, determination of the winner and issuance of the prize

The competition will take place from June 20, 2024, 12:00 a.m. through November 15, 2024, 11:59 p.m. Participation is free of cost. For participation, the written documentation for the patient case must be uploaded to the competition website: www.vita-excellence-award.com or can alternatively be sent via email to excellenceaward@vita-zahnfabrik.com.

The VITA LUMEX^® AC case documentation must include the following documents:

1. Initial clinical situation: difficulties/challenges

2. Execution of the tooth shade determination

3. Creation of the layering pattern

4. Preparation (if available): image available yes/no 

5. Image(s): Initial veneering situation (substructure, refractory die, platinum foil): 

6. Image(s): Wash (before/after firing) 

7. Image(s): Dentin layer (before/after firing) 

8. Image(s): Enamel layer (before/after firing) 

9. Image(s): Finishing 

10. Image(s): Characterization 

11. Image(s): Completed restoration, extraoral 

12. Image(s): Completed restoration, intraoral 

The participation documents may be submitted in German, English, Spanish, French or Italian. Dr. Michael Tholey and his team will select the 10 best entries from the submitted documents. The six-member jury (Barbara Calero, Hubert Karbowiak, Jürgen Freitag, Marcio Breda, Robert Pongrac and Dr. Michael Tholey) will then select the winning entry from the TOP 10.

Assessment criteria (weight in %):

• Difficulty of the initial situation (10%)
• Esthetics of the work (25%)
• Function of the work or results (35%)
• Preparation and documentation of the case (30%)

The winner selected by the jury will receive overnight accommodations in a hotel, including breakfast during IDS 2025, which will be held in Cologne from March 25 - 29, 2025, as well as a 12.9 inch Apple iPad Pro engraved with "VITA EXCELLENCE AWARD 2025." The winner will also have the opportunity to present their patient case in a 20-minute presentation at the IDS.

The selection of the winning patient case will take place no later than January 15, 2025. The winner will be announced on January 15, 2025 by Michael Tholey during the first Facebook Live broadcast of VITA Zahnfabrik. Afterwards, it will be published on the landing page of the VITA Excellence Award (www.vita-excellence-award.com), and the winner will be contacted personally. An announcement on social media is also planned soon thereafter. The prize will then be awarded at IDS 2025 after consultation with the winner.

The hotel accommodations, the presentation of the prize and any presentation held on the winning patient case documentation during the IDS will be planned with the winner prior to the IDS (starting on Jan. 15, 2025, after the announcement of the winner)."

There is no later claim to the delivery of the prize.

3. Eligible persons

Legal representatives and employees of VITA Zahnfabrik and their relatives and domestic partners are excluded from participation.

Only persons over the age of 18 can participate in the competition.

Participants may only submit their own patient case documentation. In the event of actual or attempted manipulation, VITA Zahnfabrik reserves the right to exclude entrants without reason.

4. Usage rights to the submitted case report are granted free of charge

Granting of usage rights free of charge to works created by participants in the VITA EXCELLENCE AWARD 2025 (hereinafter: "contractual works") for the purpose of advertising and marketing VITA products, as well as representing the company:

By participating in this competition, the participant accepts these conditions of participation and agrees that their personal data may be used for the implementation of the competition, if applicable for the announcement of the winner and for reporting on the award ceremony on VITA's Facebook page and other social media platforms, as well as at IDS 2025. In addition, each participant agrees – regardless of the outcome of the competition – that their patient case documentation (including any images submitted) may be used by VITA Zahnfabrik. The granting of rights has no restrictions with regards to space and time and applies to all forms of media. The rights of use granted also include the authorization to archive the submitted works in a media database. In terms of content, the usage rights granted are limited to advertising the company VITA Zahnfabrik, as well as marketing and advertising activities for dental products.

VITA is authorized to grant simple rights of use to the contractual works to the companies, business partners, dealers, dentists and dental laboratories commercially affiliated with it.

The participant affirms that he or she is entitled to grant rights to the extent described above. Furthermore, the participant confirms that he/she is the author of the documentation and is authorized to use the patient images for the purposes of this agreement.

5. Necessary information and data protection

In order to register for the competition, the full name, postal address and email address must be provided in the participation documentation.

The personal data of the non-winning participants or those not receiving compensation will be deleted after the competition has concluded.

Reference is also made to the privacy policy of the organizer Data protection (vita-zahnfabrik.com), which contains additional information relevant to data protection.

6. Applicable law

The law of the Federal Republic of Germany applies exclusively to all legal relationships arising from or in connection with this competition or the underlying conditions of participation.
