Up until now, the procedure of staining veneers externally has not been very highly regarded by dental technicians. However, the new VITA AKZENT Plus stains offer much more than just dental shade characterization. Find out more about the benefits that these new materials offer and how they can make your daily laboratory and practice routine easier ...
Up until now, stains were used for surface shade characterization of fissures or for subsequent shade adjustment of adjacent dentition. Two types of stain were previously available for this purpose: (a) the combined powder/liquid of VITA AKZENT and (b) the ready-to-use VITA SHADING PASTE mixture. Up until now, however, there were no uniform, transferable criteria that could be used to identify matching shades solely on the basis of the relevant code. With the new VITA AKZENT Plus stains, users can now benefit from a consistent, cohesive system that makes selecting materials considerably easier.
Superior application reliability and processing convenience are not the only benefits offered by these new stains: thanks to a broader range of indications and additional applications, the products in the VITA AKZENT Plus range provide users in practice and laboratory environments with freedom and versatility during processing, allowing all kinds of dental ceramic materials to be easily and efficiently customized and enhanced with shade effects, regardless of the CTE of the restoration.
Regardless of whether you wish to carry out fine glazing, coloring, or surface characterization, or would like to mix shades during the course of layering – with the new VITA AKZENT Plus stains, this can be easily achieved without unnecessary effort. VITA AKZENT Plus is a comprehensive system comprised of glazing and masking stains and glazing agents that offer almost unlimited possibilities.
The new translucent glazing stains ("Body Stains") can be used for surface staining as well as for internal coloring. They allow the shade effect of the base material to be modified by acting as a thin shade filter, while the increased fluorescence of these materials also helps emphasize the natural appearance of the veneer.
Body Stains are available in five shades and in three forms as a paste, a powder, and as a spray. The sprays are particularly suited to even application on monolithic restorations.
The extremely fine-grained, fluorescent masking stains ("Effect Stains") offer excellent coverage thanks to the intensive appearance of each shade. Recommended for the application of natural surface effects, the possibilities when it comes to detailed characterization are virtually unlimited with these fluorescent materials.
Effect Stains are available in 14 shades and in two forms as a paste and as a powder.
For silk-matte veneer surfaces, the finishing agent ("VITA AKZENT Plus FINISHING AGENT") – also a stain glaze – is the material of choice. It seals microporosities in the tooth-neck area and increases biocompatibility in the subgingival area. The Finishing Agent is available combined as a powder/liquid, and as a paste.
A uniform surface that shines like glass can be achieved using the glazing agents (VITA AKZENT Plus GLAZE), which are available as a powder, a paste, and as a spray. In the case of ceramics with firing temperatures of less than 800 °C, the VITA range offers a low-melting glazing agent: VITA AKZENT Plus GLAZE LT, which is also available as a powder or paste.
Depending on the preferred approach during processing and the relevant application, the new stains are available combined as a powder/liquid, and as a paste. Body Stains and Glaze are also available as a spray.
Powder: Ideally suited to dental technicians who wish to use them for characterizing conventional veneering ceramics as well as the fine-structure feldspar ceramic VITA PM 9. Benefit: the powders have an unlimited shelf life.
Paste: Specially developed for fast and simple characterization of restorations made from fine-structure feldspar ceramics, VITA PM 9, as well as conventional veneering ceramics. Thanks to its optimum consistency, the ready-to-use paste is particularly convenient to apply and easy to use.
Spray: Particularly suited to users in a practice or laboratory environment who, for example, wish to adapt the shade of monolithic restorations. Benefit: the uniform shade effect, as thanks to even application, the spray ensures uniform surface treatment across a large area.
