The first day of the program started with a deep look behind the scenes. An exclusive guided tour with Dr. Michael Tholey, Head of Technical Service, presented the processes from the raw materials to the dental ceramics. The tour was followed by a general overview and the latest scientific outcomes of the zirconium dioxide, VITA YZ, and the associated veneering ceramic, VITA VM 9. In a second factory visit, the participants had a rare look into the automated tooth production process. After this robotic workflow demonstration, the dental technicians had the unique opportunity to produce their own denture teeth manually with different composite layers. After the pressing and the polymerization process, the finished and polished tooth set was given to the technicians as a souvenir. The world-wide logistics center gave an impressive overview of various teeth and ceramic materials. Dr. Wolfgang Rauh, Head of the Dental Equipment Business Division, gave a detailed insight into the production of the digital shade taking advice, VITA Easyshade V. VITA’s different furnaces series were reviewed, followed by the scientific lecture, “Dental shade matching – from seeing to understanding.” MDT Claus Pukropp, Head of Technical Marketing, demonstrated how the complex tooth shade can be taken digitally and reliably with VITA Easyshade V, and communicated very easily from the dentist to the dental lab with the smartphone app, VITA mobileAssist. The winners were able to participate in a training on the procedure.
